Angela Chivers, BS, IBCLC, CCE
Angela Chivers holds a Bachelor of Science from UW-Superior. She graduated with an individualized major in Social Work, Child Development, and Health Education. She then completed her health and science credits in the lactation field. Angela is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, she is certified as a Childbirth Educator through the International Childbirth Educator Association, a Certified H.U.G. Your Baby Instructor, a Healthcare Provider Level CPR and First Aid Instructor with American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Additionally, she is the Chairman of the Polk County Breastfeeding Coalition and the mother of six children. Angela worked for the Polk County Health Department for 9 years, and has been working for SCRMC for 10 years. Her passion is equipping families with the education they need so they can relax and fall in love with their new baby.
In addition, all of the OB nursing staff are trained to assist breastfeeding mothers.

Outpatient Office Consultation – After discharge, an appointment can be made with the Lactation Consultant for follow-up care.
Inpatient Consultation – The Lactation Consultant is available to assist new moms in hospital.
Classes and Support Groups
Breastfeeding may be “natural,” but it isn’t always easy. Let us help you with the obstacles so that you can spend more time falling in love with your baby.
This class will answer questions such as:
- How do I know when to feed my baby?
- How long do I breastfeed?
- What if I don’t make enough milk?
- My nipples are sore–what can I do?
- How can dad be involved?
- What about breast pumps?
During this one time class, speak with our Certified Lactation Consultant and put your mind at rest.
The class is held Tuesdays or Thursdays in the SCRMC building.

The Latch (Breastfeeding Support Group)
A weekly group where moms and babies can connect, refresh and chat about all things breastfeeding. This group is facilitated by a Certified Lactation Consultant and mommy and is for pregnant women and moms with babies up to 1 year old.
The group meets on Thursdays from 10:30 AM to Noon in the hospital building, unless otherwise noted.
There is no fee to join the group and registration is NOT required.
